Medical Detection Dogs - Wednesday 17th February

Last night members had a volunteer from the charity 'medical detection dogs' come to speak to them.

The charity is small and relys on purely public donations to fund its project. It helps to train dogs to be companions for people with diabetites or other illness that can affect the body without the human knowing it is going to affect them I.e. When someone blood sugar levels drop or they are going to have a fit.

Members also heard about the research that is taking place with dogs and cancer patients and how 90% of the time dogs can smell a urine sample and identify if that person has a certain type of cancer.
