Stock Judging and Tug of War Prelims Results - Sunday 14th April

Stock Judging
The day started with the Stock Judging Competition. 

Overall six members from Silsoe took part and the results were:

Emily Walker came 3rd in the Junior Parry Cup
Alice Redman came 5th in the Intermediate Parry Cup

A team of four Silsoe members also came 3rd in the Team Parry Cup

How does it work? 
A pen of four animals either pigs, sheep, beef or dairy cows are labelled A, B, X and Y. Members are then allowed ten minutes to judge the four animals on their confirmation and which animal is ready for slaughter. After they have done so they are then given two minutes in front of a judge to describe why they placed the animals in their order.

Ben Jepps and Charlotte Tomkins represented Silsoe in this competition and had to eat a cricket and they also had to search through a bucket of maggots for screws. 

Tug of War
Four junior teams took part in the competition. They were made up of between seven to ten boys or girls between 12 to 17 years of age and weighing a maximum of 600kg.

The boys and girls team consist of eight members who have to weigh no more than 680kg or 580kg respectively. Overall there was five boys and five girls teams that took part.

Overall the men's team came 4th. Both the juniors and ladies team, whilst winning the prelims, now go forward to rally day to compete for 1st place.
