A total of 8 new members came to the meeting and took part in a few team games with balloons.

Tin Can Alley
It's New Members Week so every club have been busy building a Tin Can Alley Sculpture!!!
Silsoe's has been placed on the A507 near Flitwick - keep your eyes peeled!

Ploughing Match and Farm and Garden Produce Show
Yesterday was the Young Farmers second biggest event of the year: The Ploughing Match and Farm and Garden Produce Show!! This year it was hosted by Bedford Club in Wootton by kind permission of the Cook Family!!
The day started with members busy entering their classes into the Farm and Garden Produce Show! There was flower arrangement , home made liquers, cordial and beer, pears, apples, grain samples and lots more.
At 10am it was time for the draw for the ploughing plots. Over 50 ploughmen and woman took part in the competitions including Young Farmers, Ex Young Farmers and other tractor enthusiast!
And so the ploughing begun... Silsoe had 4 individual ploughmen Tom, Fraser, Marcus and Alice plus a team consisting of Elena and Jim with a helper Gordon.
Whilst the ploughing was taking place the visual classes started with YFC members making a scarecrow, cooking a pizza on a gas stove and making a vegetable sculpture.
After lunch and ploughing had finished the tent opened for everyone to see where they had come.
Finally members took part in some main ring events to finish of the day in the it's a knockout competition.
All in all silsoe won 8 cups:
Best Novice Lady Tractor Driver - Elena
Best Lady Tractor Driver - Alice
Member gaining most points overall in the grain classes - Alice
Member gaining most points overall in the Produce Show -Alice
Club entering most ploughmen - Silsoe and Bedford
Best team of 4 Ploughmen -Silsoe
Club gaining most points in the Produce Show - Silsoe
Overall winner of the Day = Silsoe
Tom also came 2nd in the novice ploughing class and 2nd in the Best YFC member Ploughing. Alice came equal 4th in the Best YFC Member Ploughing.
In the evening members enjoyed the after party.

Last nights meeting ... First Aid with Chris
Last night members learnt about bandaging, CPR, the recovery position and how to use a defibrillator!
Next weeks meeting is a joint meeting with Biggleswade YFC and is a car scavenger hunt!

New year, new officer - Club AGM Wednesday 9th September
Last weeks meeting was the Club AGM where the new officers and committee were elected!!
Tom Harwood was elected in as our new Chairman, with Jack Tomkins standing as Vice.
Sofia Hernanz and Alice Redman were elected as the Secretaries, Charlotte Fleet Chapman as the Treasurer and Kirsty Jones helping to organise the club programme.
We were joined by members of the advisory (parents and ex members) , our County Chairman Oonagh Oneil and our County Organiser Jane Heliwell.
After the meeting members and advisory enjoyed cheese, wine and nibbles!
Crazy golfing - 2nd September
So after 7 weeks off for Harvest , Silsoe are up and running again with their weekly meetings.
First one being crazy golf at Mr Mulligans Pirate Golf at Milton Keynes.
With a few hole in ones and despite lots of members in the rough, water or the bunker ,members enjoyed the golfing!

Exchangee 2015
Earlier this month Jess and Alice took an exchange girl called Karin , who came from Switzerland, to Wrest Park for a day out!
Every year Bedfordshire Young Farmers host an exchange from a different country and each club take them out for the day.
