Wednesday 11th March

Last nights meeting was at Watergate Farm for a bit of poultry plucking and trussing , rabbit skinning and gutting and stock handling.

John Franklin spent the evening showing a selection of Bedfordshire Young Farmers how to pluck a chicken and then members got to have a try for themselves.

Then Blanche Walker showed us how to truss and joint up a chicken and members got to have go for themselves.

Whilst this was going on in one shed, in the other shed members were being taught how to show sheep and beef cattle.

Finally there was a chance to learn how to skin and gut a rabbit.

Wednesday 4th March - lambing

Last night members were luckier enough to visit Manor Farm at Wilstead to see the lambs.

Whilst there members saw a live birthing of not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 lambs, quadruplets!

Afterwards members were able to hold some of the pet lambs.

At the end of the evening everyone was invited into the house for tea and cake.

Silsoe would like to thank David and Barbara Seamarks for their hospitality.

Next weeks meeting is rabbit gutting and poultry plucking practise at watergate farm!

All in all there 6 teams (2 advisory and 4 club) rounds consisted of geography, music and agricultural questions and some others.
