Silsoe Young Farmers go kayaking for charity!!!

On Saturday 5 Silsoe members took part in the Bedford Charity Canoe race along the Great River Ouse!

The race entailed completing 2 hours of paddling in a boat of your choice either a canoe, kayak (single or double) or paddle board!

Tom, Andrew and Alice shared a double kayak and managed to do 7.5 laps (which is 7:5 miles) in 2 hours!

Toby and Claire chose a single kayak and took it in turns and completed 6.5 laps!

At the end the team of Tom , Andrew and Alice were awarded joint 1st place and so there was a paddle off!

Andrew raced against another boy across the river turn around and came back, whilst it was neck and neck on the way across the river , the other boy capsized his kayak which meant Silsoe won the prize!

All in all Silsoe raised over £200 between us (over £100 of which was raised by Claire) towards Keech Cottage Hospice!

Also on the day members got to try out a giant paddle board and had a go in a cyclinder shaped zorb!
