It was the return of the Club vs. Advisory fish and chip quiz this week, an annual event in the Silsoe Young Farmers calendar.
This year David Tomkins our club leader wrote the quiz and Diane Barnes (our other club leader) helped with the scoring!
All in all there 6 teams (2 advisory and 4 club) rounds consisted of geography, music and agricultural questions and some others.
In the end it was the club that was victorious with a very close first and second place but well done to jack, Robert, Philip, Charlotte, Milly , Elena, Suzy , Jim and Emily (our winning team) !!!

This weeks meeting - night at the races
This week members gathered at the village hall for a night at the races ... With a twist!!!
Instead of actually horses members had to race with little wooden horses tied to a string!!
After a few warm up races and many horses going off track, members took part in races and relay races which were won by ru and jack and Sofia and Megan and tucked into some nibbles!!
Next weeks county meeting is the county roadshow , more details to follow

Launch of a new competition - Come Dine With Us
Throughout the year Young Farmers hold a variety of competitions such as the drama competition, winter sports, public speaking and stock judging just to name a few.
This year Bedfordshire Young Farmers have launched a new competition - Come Dine With Us!!
The idea of the competition is fairly similar to that of the tv programme (come dine with me). Each club takes it in turn to host another club, cooking them a meal and providing them with entertainment!
Oonagh and Dave our Bedfordshire County Chairman and Vice Chairman are the judges for the event.
On Friday night, 6 Silsoe members travelled up to Swineshead in the north of the county where they were wined and dined by north beds.
The details of the theme of the evening are being kept quiet until the results are given out, but I think it is safe to say all the Silsoe team left with enormous food babies!!
Silsoe are due to host a Leighton buzzard team next month. 😃
